Any time you add a domain name as hosted in some account, you normally set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that particular company. On their end, 3 records are set up automatically right after the domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the domain name where its site is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they show the server that deals with the e-mails for that particular Internet domain. The website and the email hosting are generally thought to be one thing, while they're in reality two different services. Having separate records for them will enable you to have them with different providers if you wish. As an illustration, some new company might have fantastic uptime for your site, but you might not want to switch your emails from your current host and by using an A record to point the domain name to the first and MX records to have the emails with the latter, you can get the best of both providers. These records are checked whenever you want to open a website or send an email - either way, the company whose name servers are used for the domain will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you'll see the needed site or your email will be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Website Hosting

If you have a website hosting account with our company and you would like to direct either your website or your e-mails to a different company, it will take you literally only two mouse clicks to do this. Our Hepsia CP provides an easy-to-use DNS Records tool, where all your domains and subdomains are going to be listed alphabetically and you will be able to see and edit the A and/or MX records for any of them. If you wish to use a different email provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default 2, it's not going to take more than a few mouse clicks either to add them. You could also set different latency for these records and the lower the latency, the bigger the priority a certain MX record will have. The propagation of each record that you change or create isn't going to take more than several hours and if necessary, you'll also be able to set the so-called Time-To-Live value, that reveals how long a record will stay active after it is changed or deleted.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

With the semi-dedicated hosting which we offer, you're going to have 100 % control over the records of all domain names and subdomains which you add in your hosting account. You can easily check what A and MX records each one of them has using the DNS Records section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and editing any record requires only a few mouse clicks. If you want to change your web or email hosting provider, you can change the required record and point your domain name to the other service provider for one of the services, while you still keep using the other one through us. You can also keep the main domain address here, while you edit the A record of only one of its subdomains. If you are modifying the MX records and you need additional ones on top of the default two that we have, you can create them with ease and set a different priority for every single one.
