Every single PC or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program which interacts with the hardware equipment, including peripherals such as a mouse and a printer, together with any applications that are currently installed on the system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a web server, each application runs within the parameters established by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, and so on. This is valid for both standard site scripts and server-side software such as a media server. In case a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, referred to as guest OS and host OS, which means that you can set up a different software environment on the very same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS

Our virtual private server solutions feature three Linux distributions which you could select from for the Operating System of your new hosting server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. Apart from being absolutely free, the OSs are extremely stable and protected and the primary reason to offer you the 3 of them is to make sure that you will be able to run each app that you would like, since different pieces of software could have different requirements with regards to the environment they work on. Each one of the three OSs is supported by a large community of web developers who have developed a large number of software packages which you can set up and use on your VPS. Depending on the Operating System which you choose, you will also be able to choose between 3 different Control Panels to handle your website hosting content. Needless to say, if you decide that you need another OS, we could always re-install the server with it. As an optional upgrade, we also offer you weekly updates of the Operating System for max stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Hosting

In case you decide to acquire one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the registration page since we want to give you a wider choice regarding the system environment on the server as different applications can have specific requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian contain different modules developed by their vast support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and enjoy a stable and secure web hosting service. Based on your selection, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always replace the Operating System in case the one you have selected in the beginning doesn't meet the requirements of the software which you'd like to run. We can also upgrade your OS regularly in order to keep it as secure as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
