If you have looked at loads of sites, you have probably encountered some error message once in a while. An error could take place in case the hosting server can't process a request (Error 400), if you need to log in to see some content and you have not done so (Error 401), if you aren't able to access a page (Error 403) or when a link leads to a file which isn't on the server (Error 404). Receiving such messages could sometimes be aggravating because the pages don't have anything in common with the actual Internet site. That’s why some hosting service providers allow you to set your own error pages that'll match the design of your own site and which may have any content which you want - info why the error has taken place, a suggestion how to handle it or even some funny comment. Such a feature shall help you keep the visitor on the website irrespective of the error or the reason for it.

Custom Error Pages in Website Hosting

The customized error pages function is offered with every single website hosting plan that we offer and you shall be able to substitute all of the generic pages with your own with no more than a couple of mouse clicks from your Hepsia hosting CP. You shall need to create the actual files and to upload them to your account, and then to set them for a specific domain or subdomain from the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia CP. You could do this for each and every Internet site hosted in the account separately, so that each set of personalized pages will have the same style and design as the website it is part of. If necessary, you could always go back to a default page from our system or to the default Apache server page. One other way to set custom error pages is to create an .htaccess file in the domain/subdomain root folder and to include a few lines in it. If you have never done this before, you can simply copy the necessary program code from our Help article on this subject.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you host your websites in a semi-dedicated server account from us, you could set personalized error pages for any of them easily using our in-house built Hepsia hosting Control Panel. With only a few mouse clicks inside the Hosted Domains section, you'll be able to modify the default setting from a system page to a tailor-made one for any of the four error types. All you need to do is provide a link to every file you have uploaded before that and then save the change. If necessary, you'll be able to revert this change anytime and in exactly the same way. If you would like, you can use an .htaccess file as well. It should be created/uploaded in the domain or subdomain folder linked to the website whose error pages you want to change and the content for this type of file can be found in our Help article on this matter.
